In a distressing incident in the Khetasarai area of Jaunpur district, two brothers, Ajay Prajapati (23) and Ankit (20), were fatally stabbed allegedly by six individuals during a wedding procession. The tragic event unfolded when the wedding guests approached a liquor shop run by the brothers, leading to a dispute.
Shahganj Circle Officer (CO) Shubham Todi reported that the altercation escalated into a stabbing, resulting in the immediate death of the siblings. The police swiftly arrested all six suspects after a brief encounter.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday around 11 pm when a wedding procession arrived in Khetasarai town. Guests near the liquor shop operated by Ajay and Ankit initiated a confrontation, ultimately escalating into a fatal stabbing, according to CO Shubham Todi. Following the incident, the two brothers were rushed to Sadar Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
The police acted promptly, registering a case and apprehending all six suspects within five hours. Notably, three of the arrested individuals sustained bullet injuries during the encounter and have been admitted to a hospital for medical attention.
